Love the design but it bobbled

I absolutely love the design of the jumper I bought. I love the green and yellow colours and the smiley face made me happy and several people commented when I wore it.

However after three days of wear, and before I'd even washed it, the jumper had bobbled. This was really disappointing for a jumper that was not cheap. I would not buy again for this reason and am really disappointed as I loved the look of the jumper and am really trying to buy from more small independent British brands.

Hi Harriet. I am sorry to hear you weren't completely happy with your sweater. Bobbling is a completely normal thing to happen with a blended yarn sweater (in this case fine wool and Grade A cashmere - this highest quality) and after an initial de-bobble this should settle down. Bobbling is caused when two fibres are blended as they have slightly different fibre lengths and the bobbing is the loose fibres (from the different lengths) turning into little pills of yarn from friction. After a good de-bobble it should happen less and less. Think of the yarn as settling. It is also what makes pieces from blended natural yarn softer with wear, as the initial pilling subsides.
